Our Packaging and How to Recycle It
We're always working to improve our packaging to minimise our environmental impact. Here's where things stand currently and what you can do to recycle our packaging materials after enjoying our beer.
Cans:
We package our beer in aluminium cans, which can be recycled through your kerbside recycling collection. Our cans currently have polypropylene (PP) labels. These labels can’t be recycled kerbside on their own, but don’t worry - during the can recycling process, the heat removes labels and glue effectively. Alternatively, you can peel off the labels and recycle them separately at major supermarkets that collect soft plastics.
Boxes:
Our cans are packed in cardboard boxes and sealed with paper tape. Both the box and tape can be placed in your kerbside recycling.
Packaging Peanuts
For some online orders, we use biodegradable packing peanuts made from plant starch. These can be reused or composted at home. If you need to dispose of them, they can go in your general waste - they'll break down naturally within weeks, even in landfill.
Bags:
In our shop and taproom, we use paper bags instead of plastic. These can be reused and eventually recycled via your kerbside recycling collection.
Kegs:
Most of our beer is packaged in stainless steel kegs, which are cleaned and reused - keeping packaging waste to a minimum. For hygiene and tracking, each keg is fitted with a polypropylene (PP) cap and a paper collar, both of which can be recycled kerbside. Some of our beers (mainly for export) are also available in one-way KeyKegs, which can be returned to KeyKeg for recycling.
